Taiwanese MediaTek, which wants to spread its weight in the mobile chip market to the cellular modem segment, has announced a new 5G modem that achieves high data transfer rates. The MediaTek T800 modem targets the high end.What does the MediaTek T800 offer?
The MediaTek T800 modem chip is manufactured on TSMC’s 4nm process and is quite efficient. With its Sub-6GHz and mmWave standards, it is very effective in the near area and can offer a certain transfer rate to far areas. In addition, thanks to the StandAlone (SA) and Non-StandAlone (NSA) standards, it supports stations that work both parallel to 4G networks and based on 4G networks.
With different optimizations, download speeds can reach 7.9Gbps and upload speeds up to 4.2Gbps. Although it supports PCIe and USB host interfaces, it can also be connected to different units. With the Release-16 standard, it is suitable for use in industrial Internet of Things systems. The MediaTek T800 modem will start supplying from the first months of next year.
