Satellite move from MediaTek
The satellite-based messaging technology, which came to the fore with the iPhone 14 but also offered by Huawei, is provided over a band called n53 for 5G connections, and access to satellites is thus possible.
MediaTek, the leader of the mobile chip market, is also working on satellite-based communication. MediaTek, in partnership with the British Bullitt Group, is pursuing a smartphone that supports satellite-based communication by the first quarter of next year at the latest.
MediaTek will use the more efficient 3GPP NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) modem. In addition, necessary software and service components and modem will be supported. The company states that it will connect to the satellite in just 10 seconds and there will be two-way communication. So it will be possible to send and receive messages. This service will be free for the first year, after which a subscription will be required.
