Mazda changed its 28 -year logo: Here is the new logo and its meaning!

Mazda renewed its logo 28 years later and stood behind the decision to go to a major change in its brand identity. The Japanese automotive giant officially announced its new logo with a flat and minimalist design. This new logo has been designed with Mazda’s goal of creating a more compatible brand identity to the digital world, and it has been the last link of the change spoken since July last year. Here are the details!

Why did Mazda go to such a change?

Mazda’s new logo is a part of the company’s modernization and digitalization process. While the curved structure resembling the letter ‘M’, which has become the symbol of the brand, resembled the wings of seagulls, a more flat, simple and shading structure was preferred in the new design. Optimized for smartphones, tablets and digital displays, the new logo now has clearer and sharp lines.

Maza’s old and new logo…

The company’s previous logo was introduced in 1997 and was accepted as a design that strengthens Mazda’s premium perception. However, like many major automotive brands over the years, Mazda has decided to make its logo more simple. Great manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Volkswagen and Nissan have followed the same path by making their logos straight and two -dimensional in recent years.

This significant change corresponds to the 105th anniversary of the company, considering the date when Mazda was founded on January 30, 1920. According to the Japanese press reports, Mazda considers this change as a celebration and considers the brand identity as a part of moving forward.

While Mazda’s new logo is immediately available on the brand’s digital platforms and marketing materials, it is not yet clear whether physical logos in cars will change. However, it is stated that a shaded and illuminated version is used in the Mazda Ez-6 sedan model introduced in 2024. This indicates that the new logo can also be included in cars in the near future.
