Payments giant Mastercard has partnered with leading NFT startups such as Immutable X, The Sandbox, Nifty Gateway to enable card-to-card NFT transactions.
Mastercard announced its plans to expand into the NFT space in a recent blog post. Accordingly, the company said it has partnered with Immutable X, Candy Digital, The Sandbox, Mintable, Spring, Nifty Gateway and MoonPay to enable NFT trading. The article in question stated:
“We are working with these companies to allow people to use their Mastercard cards to purchase NFTs, whether in one of these companies’ markets or using their crypto services. (…) With 2.9 billion Mastercard cards worldwide, this change could have a huge impact on the NFT ecosystem.”
The article also includes data from a survey conducted by the company. Accordingly, 45% of respondents have purchased or are considering purchasing an NFT; about half want more flexibility in payment methods.
