There are only a few months left for Apple to introduce the highly anticipated iPhone 15 series. Foxconn, one of the biggest production partners of the Cupertino company, increased the wage and bonus packages of the workers who will take part in the assembly of new models in order to avoid any problems in production.According to reports in the Chinese press, new workers who will start work at the factory in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province, as of May 29, will receive a bonus of up to 3,000 yuan ($425) in addition to an hourly wage of 21 yuan ($ 3).
Foxconn states at the time of hiring that the bonus will be paid after the 90th day. This means that new workers will have to work for at least three months to receive this money. The information was revealed in a post on WeChat last Saturday.
Foxconn doesn’t want a new riot
With this move, Foxconn hopes to avoid another scandal at its Zhengzhou plant. As you may recall, the facility was the victim of a violent strike in November 2022. Employees who could not get paid for a long time stopped work and started a riot.
Production of the iPhone 15 is planned to start in June. The smartphones will be released in September. It should be noted that Apple is preparing to offer consumers four models in the new series: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
