Speaking to BBC Radio 1, Cumberbatch said that before his character in Doctor Strange, he received an offer for a different Marvel hero, but he did not accept this offer.
Cumberbatch said in his statements on the subject that the offer came right after Star Trek: Into Darkness. According to the famous actor’s statement, the offer was the Cursed Malekith, one of the villains in the movie Thor: The Dark World. However, when this offer was rejected, it was up to Christopher Eccleston to portray the character.
