The US Patent and Trademark Office has just issued an approved patent from Apple titled “Product-Display System”. “In some cases, a retailer may want to further limit the potential buyer’s ability to remove products from a display area,” Apple said in a statement.

In Australia, it was soon discovered that a 16-year-old boy and a middle-aged man broke into an Apple Store in Canberra at around 4 am on Wednesday and stole it. But when the robbery was discovered at the Apple Store, the suspects had fled.

Security personnel were alerted to the alleged theft with an alarm and intervened directly as the criminals fled with approximately $60,000 worth of electronic equipment. Police said the attackers dropped a bag of stolen Apple products while fleeing.

The police, who arrived at the scene a short time later, were able to identify one of the suspects after examining the security camera footage. The suspects were arrested on the evening of Wednesday, January 26. The 16-year-old suspect will face two charges of aggravated theft and damage to property in the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday (January 27th). There is no information about the other suspect. Investigations are continuing for now.
