Tennessee State Police has arrested 29-year-old Nashville resident Lawrence Welch, who was tracking his girlfriend’s whereabouts using an Apple Watch strapped to the wheel of his car.
Apple started testing iPhone 14
During interrogation, the defendant admitted that his girlfriend had attached an Apple Watch to one of the wheels of her car and then followed the movement of the car through a special app. Lawrence Welch, 29, used the Life360 app to track his girlfriend’s movements, according to local police. As soon as the officers approached the girl’s vehicle, they noticed an Apple Watch attached to the disk.
Cases of spying with Apple devices increased
His unnamed girlfriend claimed that Welch had repeatedly made death threats against her. On the other hand, the use of wireless devices of Apple and other brands for surveillance has become common. In the US, for example, people are reporting cases of finding AirTags that do not belong to them, attached to their personal belongings or vehicles.
Welch will likely face jail time for the police arresting him for domestic violence.
