Apple appeared before users with the M1 Ultra processor on March 8th. The M1 Ultra, whose benchmark test score was shared, lagged behind the Nvidia RTX 3090.

Apple M1 Ultra, which made an assertive entry into the mobile processor market, led to discussions about performance. The processor, which Apple claims to have better performance than flagship graphics cards, failed to meet expectations in the OpenCL test.

M1 Ultra fell behind RTX 3090 in benchmark tests

The Apple M1 Ultra processor with 64 graphics cores has 21 TFLOPs of processing capability. The processor, which also includes hardware-supported H.264, HEVC and ProRes codecs, can access 128 GB of memory.

Although the usage purposes are different, the graphics performances of the Apple M1 Ultra and Nvidia RTX 3090 were compared. Nvidia RTX 3090 outperformed M1 Ultra with a score of 215,034 in Geekbench score.

A comparison was made at 1080p, 1440p and 2160p resolutions in Shadow of The Tomb Raider. According to the test results, the Nvidia RTX 3090 has about 32 percent higher performance than the M1 Ultra at 2160p resolution.

Apple M1 Ultra achieved 25 to 30 percent higher performance than the M1 Max processor in the performance test. The Nvidia RTX 3090 performed 2.1 times better than the M1 Ultra in the Apple-optimized Metal test.
