Apple some During the M1 Ultra announcement, the company shared a chart showing that Apple’s new chip outperforms the RTX 3090 under certain conditions. The Verge put the claim to the test, comparing the M1 Ultra to the Nvidia RTX 3090 in Geekbench 5 graphics tests. Although

Mac Studio outperformed the 16-core Mac Pro, its performance was about half that of the RTX 3090. The Verge editors put it this way: “This is like claiming that your electric car has a better engine when traveling at 80 mph because it uses a lot less fuel than a Lamborghini. Not to mention the fact that a Lambo can still go twice as fast.” were evaluated.

Nvidia RTX 3090 doubled over M1 Ultra

Let’s remind you that Apple M1 Ultra consists of two M1 Max chips connected to each other. In this way, the processor has 20 processing cores (16 powerful and 4 energy efficient). It also uses a very powerful 64-core graphics processor with 21 teraflops of performance. The graphics chip has direct access to up to 128GB of combined RAM. During the announcement, Apple said that the integrated graphics performance of the M1 Ultra chip is on par with the GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card and consumes 200W less power than the competitor.

Today the manufacturer lifted its ban on publishing reviews of the new Mac Studio PC. The Verge’s review of the M1 Ultra showed that Apple’s statements were far from reality. In the Geekbench 5 Compute test evaluating graphics performance, the M1 Ultra outperformed a PC with GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card by twice.

In the Shadow of the Tomb Raider gaming test, the GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card was significantly faster than the M1 Ultra processor graphics. At 1080p, the average frame rate was 142 FPS on the NVIDIA graphics card and 108 FPS on the Apple computer. At the same time, The Verge editors emphasize that there are noticeable slowdowns during tests in Mac Studio, regardless of resolution.

Verge review used the most expensive version of Mac Studio at $6199. This system uses the Apple M1 Ultra with 20 processor cores and 64 graphics cores. It is also equipped with 128GB of RAM.
