Nvidia has finally announced the official release date of the RTX Video Super Resolution (RTX Super Resolution) feature, which was first announced during CES 2023. This tool, which upscales videos to 4K resolution using artificial intelligence, will be released for both Chrome and Edge browsers in February 2023.
As PC Gamer explains, the RTX Video Super Resolution feature will “enable resolutions beyond 1080p. It will enhance the quality of video delivered in any native resolution between 360p and 1440p, up to 4K.” An RTX 3000 series or 4000 series GPU must be used for this feature to work. The video released by Nvidia shows how well the tool works.
While 4K video upscaling isn’t new to TVs, it’s a new technology for browsers and video streaming. Having AI performing the resolution upgrade can also be an impressive and potentially divisive feat.
But it will be fun to watch the progress and development of the RTX Video Super Definition feature and also what types of videos will work best with the tool in question…
