TrendForce, which conducts market research on technological products, revealed the striking losses in the smartphone market. While 289 million smartphones were produced in the third quarter of the year, there was a decrease of 11 percent compared to the previous year.

Samsung continues to lead

Reportedly, Samsung produced a total of 64.2 million devices, an increase of 3.9 percent compared to the previous quarter. Thus, the South Korean giant managed to maintain its leading position in smartphone production. Apple, on the other hand, produced 50.8 million devices, an increase of 6 percent from quarter to quarter. TrendForce states that the new figures point to Apple’s strongest production period and that production accelerated during the holiday period. In addition, the analyst firm says that every fourth phone that leaves the factory in the fourth quarter of the year will be an iPhone.

The remaining three names on the list are Xiaomi (Redmi, Poco and Black Shark), Oppo (Realme and OnePlus) and Vivo (iQOO) with their own sub-brands. Trendforce stated that as these Chinese companies develop their own proprietary chips, they are moving towards a future that uses less US technology. Because among these names, Xiaomi is working on a special charging chip. While Vivo has its own ISP, Oppo has announced the new MariSilicon X video signal processor.
