The USA has had many successes in space studies for many years. One of the cornerstones of these, as we all know, was the first manned Moon voyage made within the scope of the Apollo Project in 1969, while the work carried out on the International Space Station, which orbits the Earth, is of great importance for the country. The USA has also set many records on the ISS so far. The last of these is contributed by Mark Vande Hei, a US astronaut.

Mark Vande Hei has spent more time in space as of Tuesday, March 15, than any other US astronaut. Reaching the ISS in April 2021, Mark Vande Hei has rolled over 340.5 days in space so far, which is now considered a new world record. On the other hand, Hei plans to return to Earth on March 30, 2022, thus reaching 355 days in space. Other astronauts who previously stayed on the ISS for a long time were Scott Kelly with 340 days and Christina Koch with 328 days.

On the other hand, Russia, the biggest rival and business partner of the USA in space studies, has its own records in the same subject at the Mir Space Station, and the times achieved are longer than the USA. Russian cosmonaut Valeri Polyakov became the longest time spent in space at 437 days.
