Litecoin creator Charlie Lee believes Dogecoin (DOGE) plays an important role in pushing cryptocurrencies into the mainstream.
During a recent Bloomberg interview, Litecoin creator Charlie Lee said that Dogecoin is “great” and “quite fun.” Lee claims that the biggest meme is that cryptocurrency is ready to bring many people into the cryptocurrency space. Lee also praised Tesla CEO and DOGE fan Elon Musk for making cryptocurrencies a “main topic” in the world.
Dogecoin was launched in December 2013 as a fork of the now obsolete Litecoin fork called “Lucky Coin”. The parody coin quickly reached a significant level of popularity, with its mainstream breakthrough coming in 2021.
Lee, who sold his stash of Litecoin on the verge of a major collapse in early 2018 and faced charges, says Bitcoin is now his largest holding. He refuses to invest in his own opinion because he wants to focus on the technical aspects of the project without worrying about how it will affect the price of the cryptocurrency.
Litecoin, one of the oldest altcoins, is a fork of Bitcoin that emerged in 2011. Litecoin remains the 22nd largest cryptocurrency by market cap.
