LinkedIn, the business-oriented social media platform launched by the US-based technology giant Microsoft in 2003, has implemented a new feature that will be important for users. Microsoft has begun issuing verification badges on LinkedIn to companies that use its own email service. Unlike Meta and Twitter, this feature, which is offered for free, will make sure that users have a verified email and even actually work for the company that says on their profile.

LinkedIn’s verification badges will serve as an example of users being real and officially working for that company. Users who perform the necessary actions will thus gain credibility on LinkedIn. The user who verified and got a badge will be able to show this badge on his profile page.

This is what verification badges on LinkedIn will look like

Employees will need to have a company email in order for LinkedIn’s verification badges to be available. The user who identifies this email account in their profile and verifies it will start seeing a badge on their profile page stating that they have verified their work email. Users unaware of the feature will also see a small description of the badge. Microsoft stated that this verification system will work with the Microsoft Entra infrastructure. Microsoft Entra, which includes a number of cloud-based services, offers some features such as the management of employee identity, the management of requests such as leave, and the assignment of e-mail addresses.

Meanwhile; This is not the only innovation on LinkedIn. Microsoft has also started allowing the platform to authenticate. So much so that users who are US citizens will be able to use this method to better prove that they are real. The user who processes their credentials and completes the verification process will also have a badge for this verification. The new features will make LinkedIn a safer place, where fake accounts are opened and people are trying to defraud them. Microsoft announced that the new feature will reach all users by the end of April.
