The Iranian government has reportedly started issuing licenses to crypto miners under the new regulatory framework approved last week.
In the past months, more than 9,000 crypto mining devices were confiscated in order to avoid an electricity crisis on the grounds that too much electricity was used in crypto mining in Iran. In the next period, new crypto regulation demands were brought to the agenda in the country and new steps were taken.
Iran Licenses Crypto Miners
The Iranian government has approved a new comprehensive and detailed crypto regulation. With the approval, the license path was opened to crypto miners.
Reza Fatemi Amin, Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mines and Commerce, stated that his ministry now has permission to continue issuing licenses for crypto mining, saying:
Mohsen Rezaei Sadrabadi, secretary of the government’s working group on cryptocurrency, said that the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Commerce is responsible for licensing crypto miners, and that the new regulatory framework has provisions that address large-scale crypto mining operations.
