One of the brands that marked the smartphone market, LG’s rollable screen phone has emerged. This project, which has been canceled at the moment, came to the fore with a new video. According to the video, LG’s foldable prototype works very stable.
Why did LG cancel the rollable phone?
It is reported that LG is working on a “Rollable” model with a rollable screen before it leaves the smartphone market and is ready for mass production. Actually, the first official post was shown at CES 2021, but it only included render images.
The new video showed that LG has actually developed a phone that can fold like a roll. The video, published by a YouTube channel called Checkout Tech, revealed how the LG Rollable smartphone looks from different angles. Although we have not encountered a similar study, it seems that there is a lot of glare and reflections on the screen of the phone.
Not much information was provided about the LG Rollable model, and the video did not include any new details. We only see that the screen of the smartphone shrinks and enlarges with the help of a button.
According to the specs featured on The Verge, the original screen of the rollable phone is 6.8 inches with a resolution of 1080×2428 pixels. With the extra part, it expands to 7.4 inches and a resolution of 1600×2428 pixels. The video also featured the back cover of LG Rollable, which featured a three-camera setup.
According to unofficial information, LG has sold some of these smartphones to its own employees. The video is also thought to have been shot by employees at an old time. However, it should be noted that the company has already closed the smartphone market and LG Rollable has been canceled.
Although the Korean manufacturer has thrown the towel in the smartphone market, there are companies that carry out similar studies. Rollable screen technology is being tested by Samsung or Oppo.
