South Korean technology giant LG, which is remembered as one of the most popular smartphone manufacturers of a period, announced that it was withdrawing from the smartphone industry with a decision it took a few years ago. After this statement, the company did not produce and sell smartphones again. Now, there has been a development from LG’s past.

LG was one of the most enterprising smartphone manufacturers of recent years. The company, which came up with smart phones with interesting designs such as Wing, was also working on models with foldable and wrapable screens. One of these phones has surfaced through a South Korea-based YouTube channel. The phone, called “LG Rollable”, seems to deserve a chance when we look at all the details.

Here’s the LG Rollable that was never released

According to the video shared on the YouTube channel BullsLab, LG’s foldable phone had a 6.8-inch screen when closed. This screen, when opened, reached 7.4 inches and became a little smaller than an average tablet. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor, the device was combined with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. In addition, this smartphone had a battery with a capacity of 4,500 mAh.

When we look at the back case of the phone, we see the presence of a dual camera setup. This camera setup included a 64 MP main camera and a 12 MP ultra wide-angle camera. Just below the camera setup, we encounter the fingerprint reader sensor.

The side panel of LG’s wrap-around phone has an interesting feature. So much so that the volume on-off button built into the side panel, which has become a standard on smartphones, and the button that does not turn on the phone, were not included in LG Rollable. Instead, the company opted for rather small round buttons. According to the description of BullsLab, these buttons had a touch-sensitive structure.

LG Rollable, which was first mentioned in 2020 and appeared as a working prototype at CES 2021 events, took its place on the dusty shelves of history as a model that was never released. But what would happen if this smartphone was released in those years? That’s what nobody knows…

Here is the video prepared for LG Rollable:
