The first movie starring Harrison Ford focused on what happened between humans and advanced androids called replicants in Los Angeles in 2019. The second film, directed by Dennis Villeneuve, the name behind films such as Arrival and Dune, and starring Ryan Gosling, told the experiences of a replicant who worked as a cop 30 years after the first. It has been revealed that a series of the series, which is described as ‘cult’, will be made in the past months. Now, there has been a development in this regard.

Blade Runner 2099 approved to stream on Prime Video

The Blade Runner series, which is under development on Amazon, has been approved to air on Prime Video. In the statements that came, it was stated that Ridley Scott, who directed the first film, will produce the series, which will be called ‘Blade Runner 2099’. It was reported that Silka Luisa, the famous screenwriter who wrote the Shining Girls series, will also write the new production to be shot in partnership with Amazon, Alcon Entertainment and Scott Free Productions.

Vernon Sanders, head of Amazon Studios, said: “The original Blade Runner, directed by Ridley Scott, is considered one of the best and most influential science fiction films in history. That’s why we’re so excited to bring Blade Runner 2099 to our Prime Video customers around the world.” Representatives from other companies that will shoot the production also stated that the Blade Runner universe will expand and meet expectations with the story created by the great Silka Luisa.

Blade Runner 2099, as the name suggests, will take place 50 years after the second movie. There is no information about the subject of the series, the cast and the release date yet.
