Hardware wallet maker Ledger has backed off after growing criticism of Ledger Recover.
Ledger discussions in recent days began to take shape with the statements from the company’s CEO, Pascal Gauthier. The discussions had uncovered backdoor allegations. Gauthier apologized to the community in his latest statement.
Ledger, who backed off after the controversy emerged, promised more transparency. Gauthier stated that they listen to their customers and will act accordingly.
Open Source Code Message for Ledger Recover
Ledger CEO Pascal Gauthier stated that what they experienced was an experience and that they had problems in communication. Gauthier admitted they had a miscommunication at the launch of Ledger Recover.
Stating that they listened to all the concerns, Gauthier stated that Ledger Recover would be more transparent. The hardware wallet manufacturer will make its final product more open source. The company has delayed the launch of Ledger Recover until it has completed the work that has been initiated based on the backlash from the community.
Ledger’s chief technology officer, Charles Guillemet, stated that they will make technical posts explaining the principles of Recover and clearly articulate the way the process works.
The open source structure of Ledger Recover will be regularly updated and actively followed. The company also underlined that the new protocol can be used on demand.
