The Lapsus$ group, which has cyberattacked big companies such as Nvidia and Samsung from the technology world, added Microsoft to its victim list in the past weeks. New details have been shared about the group, which has come to the fore with many cyber attacks in the last four months.
Two teenagers detained
UK police, conducting a comprehensive investigation into the Lapsus$ group, announced last week that they have arrested two youths, one 16 and the other 17, who were identified in connection with the cyber attacks. Detective Michael O’Sullivan, who was responsible for the investigation, said that among the criminals whose identities were not disclosed due to their age, the 16-year-old was also accused of “securing unauthorized access with a computer and a program.”
The leader of the group hacking giant companies may be 16 years old
Announcing that one of the Lapsus$ accounts compromised in the face of attacks last week and limited access to company systems, Microsoft reported that customers were blocked from accessing their data. Also, addressing the allegations that Lapsus$ stole the Microsoft source code of the group in its statement, the technology giant emphasized the company’s risk management approach and stated that even if the codes were seized, it would not provide any benefit.
