The Personal Data Protection Board (KVKK) fined the platform because there was no warning message about cookies on the website of a gaming platform. An administrative fine of 300 thousand lira was imposed on the platform, whose site was not disclosed.
Upon the complaint made to the Board, an investigation was initiated on the site in question. It was stated that there are many cookies on the site, there is no illumination in this framework, and the data controller does not seek explicit consent for cookies that are not mandatory and track user movements for purposes such as advertising or statistics.
In the review made by the Board, it was determined that personal data is processed through cookies that are not normally required, such as for advertising and marketing purposes of the website. It has been concluded that the platform, which does not issue a warning message to its users about cookies and does not receive explicit consent for cookies for marketing and advertising purposes, does not fulfill its obligations regarding data security in the Personal Data Protection Law. As a result, it was decided to impose an administrative fine of 300 thousand liras.
