READING NOW Kuo: Apple’s mixed reality glasses may be delayed

Although these headlines of Apple, which has an expensive and limited sales volume expectation, have been circulating in the whisper newspaper for a long time, they still remain unclear. A while ago, information had reported that Apple’s mixed reality glasses would come with the xrOS operating system instead of realityOS. Now, Technology analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple’s AR / VR glasses may be delayed due to problems.

The reason for the delay may be software

According to Kuo, the bulk shipment of Apple’s mixed reality glasses could be delayed until the second half of 2023 due to “software issues”. Kuo said that bulk shipments of components for eyeglasses are likely to begin in the first half of 2023, but that he believes bulk shipments of fully-product eyeglasses may not begin until the second half of the year.

Therefore, due to this delay, even if Apple announces the mixed reality glasses at the event to be held in early 2023, it is likely that it will take months to launch. On the other hand, it is not clear what exactly the “software problems” the analyst has stated means. These issues may also be related to xrOS or it could be some other software issue as well.

On the other hand, it is possible that this postponement will affect the financial situation of important supplier companies such as Largan, Genius, Cowell and Primax of mixed reality glasses. In addition to all this, this new product of Apple will target an extremely niche audience. The sales forecast, which Kuo says will be less than 500,000 in 2023, is indicative of this.
