Huawei is making a remarkable rise again in the smartphone world. The company, which continues its production under the embargoes imposed by the USA, used the Kirin 9000s processor produced by SMIC, with which it works, at the heart of the Huawei Mate 60 series. An interesting detail emerged about the processor that was a matter of curiosity.
Kirin 9000s undergone custom 14nm production showing 7nm performance
The processor, which we first saw in the Huawei Mate 60 Pro, has impressed with its performance so far. SMIC, which was previously far behind processor manufacturers such as TSMC, wants to make a leap and take itself to the next level with this series.
When we look at the resulting features, SMIC used 7nm technology to produce the processor. However, the emerging reports do not say this. According to the information revealed by Minatake Mitchell Kashio, CEO of research firm Fomalhaut Techno Solutions, the processor went through the 14nm process. However, it was subjected to special manufacturing that made it behave like 7nm.
When we look at today’s smartphone world, 14nm production is quite old technology. However, according to the information provided, there is a reason for this. With this production plan, Huawei will break the embargo rules imposed by the USA. It seems that the technological tension between the USA and China will continue to increase.
