Katy Perry joins Blue Origin’s historical space mission of women
Famous pop star Katy Perry will participate in a completely women’s space flight with Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket. Perry will be with Lauren Sanchez, the fiancé of Jeff Bezos, the owner of Blue Origin on this journey, with CBS presenter Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn.

Pop star goes into space

Blue Origin announced that the Soviet Union was the first entirely women’s space flights after the solo space mission of Valentina in 1963. Although there is no definite date yet, it is announced that the flight will be made this spring. Katy Perry will take this journey before the “Lifetimes” tour, which will continue from April 23 to November 11th.

Perry said in a statement, “If you told me that I would be a part of the crew of women, all of which were women, I would believe you. As a child, nothing was beyond my imagination. ”

Blue Origin’s NS-31 mission will be the 11th manned space flight of the New Shepard rocket and the 31st flight in the history of this rocket. To date, 52 people have been sent to space with this program. A flight with the New Shepard rocket usually takes about 11 minutes. The rocket works completely autonomous, so there is no pilot and passes passengers to space by crossing the space limit known as the Karman line. If you want to go into space with Blue Origin, you need to pay $ 150 thousand.

On the other hand, this flight will be another journey where rich and famous names go into space. In 2021, Jeff Bezos joined the company’s first manned space flight. Famous names like Michael Strahan and William Shatner went to space with Bezos’ rockets. Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Galactic, made a flight in the VSS Unity spacecraft in July 2021. However, Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, has not yet gone to space.
