Wikileaks founder Julian Assange’s brother, Gabriel Shipton, said that AssangeDAO helped Assange fight against the United States.

Shipton joins the podcast of privacy-focused crypto project Orchid. Making statements about the legal struggle against the USA in the broadcast, Shipton said that AssangeDAO helped in this regard. AssangeDAO managed to raise $53 million against Julian Assange’s espionage charges.

Additionally, Shipton disclosed that $53 million donated to the DAO was sent to a German foundation that has supported Assange’s defense for several years. The DAO is taking such a path as it is more likely than ever to prevent funds from reaching US courts. Shipton said:

“There is a real lack of resources, particularly in the US, to deal with the situation as it arises. Now that Julian has these resources at his disposal, he can actually fight instead of fighting in courts in the UK, which is now his only focus. He can be aggressive and take aggressive legal action and really lead to where the charges originate.”

As it is known, Assange is accused of illegally obtaining and disclosing US confidential information in connection with operating the WikiLeaks website.

The English court also gave the green light to Assange’s extradition to the United States yesterday.
