The judge Thursday’s court first rejected the bail release of Sam Bankman-Fried.
The conditions for Sam Bankman-Fried’s (SBF) release on bail were changed by a judge last Tuesday. Prior to Thursday’s hearing, a judge did not approve of SBF’s release on bail.
New Developments on Bail Release of Sam Bankman-Fried
New developments continue to occur in the court of Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder and former CEO of the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX.
The proposal to release SBF on bail was rejected by the judge before the hearing. Prosecutors wrote that as Bankman-Fried was accused of using the encrypted messaging app Signal to communicate with a potential witness in the case, prosecutors wanted changes to his bail terms. A hearing will be held on this matter on Thursday.
A U.S. District judge denied Sam Bankman-Fried’s request to change his bail terms and cancel Thursday’s hearing on the matter, according to court documents submitted Tuesday.
Bankman-Fried agreed this week to stop using encrypted or ad-hoc messaging apps like Signal after prosecutors accused her of using technology to contact a potential witness in a criminal case and requested changes to her bail terms.
