READING NOW It’s like straight out of a science fiction movie: Here’s the new feature of iOS 17!

iOS 17 was introduced at Apple’s WWDC 2023 on June 5th. In the presentation, the innovations offered to the users were mentioned. With iOS 17, Apple aims to both offer new features to users and improve existing ones. So much so that at this point, it added a lot of innovations to AirDrop and a new feature called NameDrop was introduced. So how will AirDrop be revised with innovations?

What will the new AirDrop be like?

Now, when two iPhones are brought closer together in AirDrop, the transfer starts. It is not necessary to enter the sharing menu and find and select the person with AirDrop turned on. This feature sounds nice but sounds like a normal feature. However, it is designed in such a way that it looks like it came out of a science fiction movie. Here’s how to transfer data from an iPhone to iPhone with the new AirDrop:

In iOS 16 and earlier versions, the device to be shared must be near the device to be able to transfer files with AirDrop. When out of range of AirDrop, the transfer fails and the content is not shared. This can be frustrating when sending and receiving large numbers of files, such as videos.

When AirDrop is out of range in iOS 17, content that is tried to be shared with someone continues to be sent over the internet securely and without loss of quality. The only requirement is that both people are logged into iCloud.

But what will NameDrop look like?

NameDrop allows users to easily share contact information by combining their iPhone or an iPhone and an Apple Watch. This feature is also coming to Apple Watches with watchOS 10. Users can likewise share content between iPhone devices when close to each other, or launch SharePlay to listen to music, watch movies or play games.
