The absence of a Galaxy Note device last year and no hint of future Note models were strong signs that the end of the series was near. The evaluation of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra as a new Note with its stylus and features further strengthened these signs.
And now Samsung president TM Roh has officially confirmed the end of the Galaxy Note series. In other words, it is certain that we will not see a new Galaxy Note model from now on. We can say that this is not such bad news, as a Galaxy Note equivalent device will be released every year under the name Galaxy S Ultra.
Samsung’s decision to discontinue the Galaxy Note line is hardly surprising, given how few differences have been between the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note phones over the years. In addition, the releases of Galaxy Note phones could conflict with Samsung’s foldable releases in August/September, causing the company to compete with itself.
With this new statement, the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra go down in history as the last of their kind phones. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is well positioned even this year due to its impressive specs and Samsung’s commitment to long-term software support for the smartphone, and it’s still considered a good buy.
The technical differences between the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the Galaxy S22+ are quite large. Samsung may continue this trend in future high-end devices to help better differentiate between its offerings. While the Galaxy S series will continue to serve regular users, the Ultra model will target advanced users.
