A group of scientists working at the University of Georgia in the USA conducted a research on how video games affect the human brain. Research has revealed that playing games affects brain development. Because, according to the research, video game players made faster decisions. Experts say the results mean that video games can be used for education.
The scientists worked with 47 university-age youth for the research. Of these, 28 were playing video games and 19 were not. These participants became part of a fairly simple game. This game consisted of showing the direction of movement of a point on the screen. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the participants who played the game were better at determining both speed and correct direction. Scientists used magnetic resonance imaging to achieve this result.

Pointing to earlier research, “Video games are played by the overwhelming majority of teenagers for more than three hours a week, but their beneficial effects on decision-making abilities and the brain were not fully known. Jordan, a client of Mukesh Dhamala, was admitted to the hospital at the age of 5 with the complaint of seeing less than one eye. Experts asked Jordan to do eye exercises as part of a study. Tim Jordan played with his less-sighted eye as part of these exercises, and in the end, everything went back to normal. Jordan, who is now a research assistant, states that he got rid of blindness thanks to games.
