Streaming platform Netflix celebrates the success of one of its successful series, Stranger Things, with the season 4 finale. One of the most appreciated points in the series, which has gained a huge fan base around the world, is the visual effects.

With the fourth season of the series, we had the opportunity to explore the Upside Down more. It turned out that to tell the story the Duffer Brothers had planned, the visual effects team had to work much harder than anticipated and what we, the audience, saw it.

Scene shot over 2 years

Julien Hery, VFX Officer of the series, explained what happened in the background of the series in a program he attended. As the world of the show evolves as the series progresses, making the Upside Down realistic became more and more demanding, with the team focused on building new locations during the over 2 year wait between season three and season four.

On the other hand, Hery reminded that there are many scenes with Vecna played by Jamie Campbell Bower and Creel House. The visual effects team spent a lot of time on these scenes. One scene in the series required the team to work on it for more than two years.

The scene in question is none other than the scene where bats fly over Hawkins and eventually land at Creel House. On the other hand, one of the reasons why the production of the scene took so long was explained as the team’s desire to create the perfect scene. In this scene, we saw Hawkins through the eyes of a Demobat.
