According to the latest statement from Microsoft, Xbox game prices will increase. Game developers affiliated with Microsoft will apply a noticeable price increase to their productions from 2023. Similar moves have come from Sony and Ubisoft before. How will game prices change in 2023?
Xbox game prices are fixed at $69.99
Microsoft has announced that it will increase the prices of Xbox games starting next year. New games like Redfall, Starfield, and Forza Motorsport affiliated with Xbox Game Studios will be available for $69.99 instead of $59.99.
Microsoft said that it left the hike decision especially after the holiday period. In its statement, “We have suspended price increases until Christmas so that everyone can take advantage of the game giveaway. “Starting in 2023, our games will start at $69.99 across all platforms, including Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Starfield.”
Although it is bad news that Xbox Game Studios’ games are on a hike, it should not be forgotten that they have been added to Game Pass. Microsoft adds all games developed for Xbox to the Game Pass library on the day they are released.
However, Microsoft Gaming Manager Phil Spencer, who made a statement earlier, stated that there would be a price increase for Xbox. Saying that he believes Xbox product and service prices will increase, Spencer said that they will be “flexible” about timing.
“I think at some point we’re going to have to raise the prices of some things, but we thought it was important to maintain prices as we went on vacation,” Spencer said. In contrast, Sony costs PS5 games between $49.99 and $69.99.
