Many users have complained about a screen time restriction bug that allows kids to use the devices whenever they want. Reacting to parents trying to restrict their children’s use of electronic devices, Apple stated that they solved this problem with the iOS 16.5 update. But the problem was found again in iOS 17 Beta. Apple is now trying to fix this bug.
Apple trying to fix screen time reset issue
The issue occurs on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices. It affects a function called Downtime, which allows parents to remotely set hours when children cannot use their devices. An Apple spokesperson said, “We are aware that some users are experiencing an issue where their Screen Time settings are reset unexpectedly.” made his statements.
According to the spokesperson, Apple takes these reports very seriously and is making and will continue to make updates to improve the situation. Parents who checked the feature saw that the scheduled times were either reverted to old settings or removed altogether, allowing kids to use their devices whenever they want. This must have bothered them so much that thousands of people complained.
One user changed his password to make sure his kids didn’t guess. But he realized he needed to reset the feature “two or three times a week”. As you can imagine, children do not want to report this problem in a timely manner. That’s why only some careful parents can notice it. On an Apple talk page on the subject, nearly 2,300 people said they’ve experienced the same error.
Apple knew about the problem before. So much so that with the release of iOS 16.5 in May, it reported that the problem was resolved. However, some users found the issue in later versions and even iOS 17 Beta. Apple is now trying to fix this bug, according to a spokesperson. It will be overcome in new upcoming iOS 17 updates.
Screen time was introduced at Apple’s developers conference in 2018, allowing parents to remotely control their kids’ Activity Report and manage app usage time. Even certain applications can be selected within a certain time interval. These features are frequently used today, especially by parents.
