iPhone 15 Pro Max will be the best-selling model
Now-renowned Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo claims that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will account for 35% to 40% of shipments in its lineup. This means that Apple has fallen on the most expensive model in this series.
Projected shipments for the iPhone 15 Pro Max through the end of the year have also increased by about 10% compared to the 14 Pro Max in the same period. “This shows that Apple thinks the periscope lens only found on the iPhone 15 Pro Max will impact sales,” Kuo said.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max will be the only model with the new periscope lens, which will significantly increase the optical zoom range of the camera. This feature has long been requested by some iPhone users, especially professional photographers, as other smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra already have this technology.
It’s not entirely clear why Apple decided to keep the periscope lens exclusive to the more expensive model this year, which is said to be up to $200 higher in price. The analyst notes that the unit price of a periscope lens is four times more than most regular lenses, so this may be one of the reasons.
However, Kuo also confirmed rumors that the periscope lens will be coming to the smaller iPhone 16 Pro model next year. So it will be on the 16 Pro Max as well as the 16 Pro Max.
Returning to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, some previous reports suggested that mass production could be delayed due to supply issues. But it looks like Apple has taken care of the situation and will begin mass shipping of all new iPhones this week. The company is expected to ship approximately 80 million units by the end of the year and 250 million units through 2024.
The entire series is said to have a new design with slightly rounded edges, a USB-C port and Dynamic Island for each model. The 15 Pro models will have a new display with thinner bezels, the faster A17 chip, and the periscope lens on the 15 Pro Max model.
