Tesla, one of the world’s most famous electric and autonomous vehicle manufacturers, has officially announced how many vehicles it had to recall in the past year. Accordingly, the company had to recall almost half a million cars in total for several reasons, some hardware and some software.
Tesla recalled a total of 475,000 vehicles
Tesla announced that it had to recall a total of 475,000 vehicles, mostly due to safety concerns. Having to recall different models in many countries, the company initially recalled all Tesla Model 3s developed between 2017 and 2020, amid concerns that repeated use of the trunk could corrode a coaxial cable for the rear view camera.
Another recall that took place in 2021 was for Model S sedans. More than 119,000 Model Ss produced between 2014 and 2021 have been recalled for misalignment of the latch mechanism in the front trunk at the factory. It was feared that this error would cause the front trunk of the vehicle to suddenly open while driving.
It is said that this problem in Model 3 is not included in any model made in 2021 or later. However, Model S vehicles do not have any of these chronic problems if they were produced after December 23, 2020.
The statement from the Tesla front stated that these factory problems did not cause any accidents or injuries. However, the company, which attracted serious criticism and doubts about how safe the autopilot was before 2021, wants to continue the reputation it has gained in this field last year.
