What kind of experience did the HP Victus Laptop 16 offer?
Let’s start with the design of the device to explain what the HP Victus Laptop 16 offers us. We can say that the computer stays away from the traditional gaming computer understanding. This is actually something that many players now prefer. The computer hosts an extremely simple, minimal and stylish design.
Another small but important detail that stands out in the design is the part where the hinge is placed. Many gamers place the hinge directly on the chassis to save the computer expense. Over time, this damages the hinge itself or the plastic part it is in. However, the HP Victus series connects the screen and body with a separate section coming out of the body. This extends the life of the hinge, preventing possible damage in advance.
The only negative experience we’ve had with the design lies in the Touchpad, which many people won’t use often. Although the touchpad of the touchpad offers a tangible feeling when you run your finger over it, you have to apply a certain amount of force when you try to click something.
If we go to the screen where we see the results of all the operations on the computer, the most prominent feature of the screen is of course the 144 Hz refresh rate. 144 Hz allows you to see the image much more fluently, whether for daily use or playing games.
Thanks to the IPS panel, we can clearly distinguish the colors in your games and designs. In addition, thanks to the light-reflecting feature of the screen, we were able to continue to see the contents on the screen without any problems during the brightest hours of the day. The colors on the screen can be clearly selected even in high brightness situations.
High performance for today, high performance for tomorrow:
Let’s look at the performance side that makes a computer a computer. We put the computer, which offers an Intel® Core™ i5-12500H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics, to intense tests. We tried acting with Hogwarts Legacy, which has the best graphics of today, and we measured the power of the processor with the most intense tests.
The processor tests we conducted with CPU-Z and Cinebench R23 managed to give very good results for this price level. The processor achieved 10741 points in Cinebench R23’s render tests and 5620 points in CPU-Z’s stress test. Both tests were tests that used all cores of the processor.
We managed to achieve high-level results when we throw ourselves into games, where we can see the compatibility of the processor and the graphics card best. In Hogwarts Legacy, we managed to get a steady 60 FPS at ultra settings without ray tracing turned on in FullHD resolution.
Of course, DDR5 RAMs running at 4800 mHz also played a big role behind this performance. Each of the textures we will see in the game is first transferred from the high-speed SSD to RAM, and then processed by the graphics card.
Of course, the situation changed a bit when we activated ray tracing. While the ray tracing settings were at the ultra level, our FPS value started to drop to 30 and below. On the other hand, we did not observe a very high performance increase when we lowered the ray tracing settings. FPS value could not reach 60 FPS with ray tracing active. In our gaming test, the DLSS feature remained on all the time.
What is the storage unit, the secret performance weapon of computers, that many people are not aware of?
HP Victus Laptop 16 includes a much superior storage unit compared to its competitors. The computer is equipped with a 512 GB NVMe M.2 SSD of Samsung, the king name of the SSD industry. With its read and write performance, the SSD ensures that the computer runs constantly fluently. It also promises longevity thanks to being Samsung.
We used the computer’s performance to its fullest, but what were the temperatures like?
The HP Victus Laptop 16 has a good and a bad side on the cooling side. The computer, especially in the processor test -as in every computer- in the first place went to high temperatures. In the first seconds of the processor test, we started to see numbers like 90 degrees Celsius. But after a few seconds, that changed.
The high-performance fans on the computer were activated and the temperature value dropped below 75 degrees in just 4 seconds and remained constant. Of course, the minus part was that such good cooling performance was a minus that every computer had. We can say that the environment is quite noisy when the fans of the computer are running at their highest level.
Let’s summarize and evaluate:
HP Victus Laptop 16 manages to offer higher performance compared to its price and its competitors in this price range. Behind this performance, not being stingy with SSD and RAM plays a big role. The device hosts the hardware that will allow you to play new games that will be released in the next few years with high performance.
Likewise, the simple design of the device makes it usable in professional work environments. In addition, its mid-to-high-end hardware offers more than enough performance for tasks such as content production and moderate 3D renderings.
