Interest in vampire-hunting co-op shooter Redfall has waned so much that the game’s concurrent Steam player count regularly drops to single digits. From time to time, the number of players decreases so much that there are not even enough players to fill a four-person co-op team.
What’s more, Redfall seems to have somehow dropped to single-player every day since September 22nd. While these numbers paint a grim picture, it’s worth noting that they don’t take into account players on Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Series X|S consoles.
Arkane Austin’s latest game was poorly received by fans and critics. Even Xbox head Phil Spencer publicly stated that he was disappointed by Redfall. Allegedly, even the developers of Redfall were secretly hoping that Microsoft would cancel the game.
Despite all this, Bethesda Softworks’ head of publishing, Pete Hines, promised that they would not give up on Redfall and said that they would make sure it was a good game.
Fallout 76, also published by Bethesda, maintained its balance by developing its unique identity and appeal after having a similarly shaky launch. However, even though Fallout 76 was plagued with problems upon release, it still had thousands of players at its lowest point.
