Samsung is allegedly developing a new processor for future Galaxy Book Windows laptops.
Korean site Pulsenews says, through multiple anonymous sources, that Samsung has created a new internal team dedicated to developing CPU cores. The team is said to be led by a former AMD CPU developer, but no name has been revealed: “The first chip, dubbed Galaxy Chip, could go on sale in 2025, according to industry sources. However, since Samsung Electronics is just starting to develop its own CPU cores, the chip will most likely have a CPU based on ARM technology.”
In addition, the news states that the CPU core developed in-house may be ready by 2027. With this news, we see for the first time a news that claims that Samsung can make a CPU core for its PCs as well as its smartphones. If this leak is true, it can definitely be said to be a big change for the Galaxy Book series, which has been using Intel processors so far.
Of course, Samsung has been producing the Exynox processor family for years. But these chips were based on ARM’s designs. In particular, the recently launched Galaxy S23 smartphones did not have versions with Exynos chips, a first in the Galaxy S series. All of these phones used a special version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
