Twitter relationship with Elon Musk does not fall off the agenda. The businessman suspended the purchases last week, after the company made a statement about fake and spam accounts, while everyone was waiting for the deal to be made official and the transfer process to take place.
Elon Musk announced that after the platform announced that fake and spam accounts accounted for less than 5 percent of total users, it would stop its purchases and conduct a random test of 100 followers. Finally, an important and comprehensive report on the subject has emerged.
The rate of fake and spam accounts on Twitter emerged
After Elon Musk did not trust Twitter’s statement and asked for the relevant data to be verified, SparkToro and Followerwonk companies published a joint report on the subject. The research was carried out on 44 thousand 58 accounts that have been active on the platform in the last 90 days and selected randomly from among more than 130 million profiles.
As a result of the research, 19.42 percent of the selected accounts were found to be fake or spam. Apart from that, the followers of Elon Musk, who are likely to buy the platform, were also scrutinized. It should be noted that these results are also quite interesting.
Elon Musk, who has 93.4 million followers on Twitter, is not much different when it comes to 26.8 million active followers in the last 90 days. Because it was revealed that 23.42 percent of these accounts were fake or spam. At the same time, it was emphasized that 70.23 percent of Musk’s followers could be fake if the last 90 days criteria were removed.
