The first phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which started with the movie of Iron Man in 2008, ended sadly with the release of Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Entering the multiverses thanks to series such as Wandavision and Loki in the 2nd phase, Marvel showed all the audience how multiverses work with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Announcing almost all of its projects up to the 6th phase in the past days, Marvel Studios later announced that some films were postponed. Today, an important claim has been made about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Iron Man may be back!
The Twitter account MCU Source, which shares a lot of consistent information about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, claimed in a tweet today that Iron Man and Captain America will return in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. If you remember, both characters sadly said goodbye to the Marvel universe in Avengers: Endgame.
Many sources have already made claims about the return of these characters, but none of them happened. So how likely is the information this time to be correct? How will these characters return?
It’s all thanks to the multiverses
As you know, we entered multiverses in Wandavision, Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. One of the details we learned here was that there can be more than one variation of the same character. In fact, this is exactly what will happen in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars movies. In The Kang Dynasty, we will see Kang, the greatest conqueror of the 30th century, trying to come to the present day and take over the world. The character who will stand opposite Kang in this movie will most likely be Captain America. However, this Captain America will come from a different dimension and will try to save Earth-199999 (the universe where the Marvel Cinematic Universe is) by coming to earth, most likely because his own planet is destroyed.
Of course, we don’t know if this “other dimension” Captain America will look like ours. We can see a different version like the Hydra agent Captain America, Mutant X Captain America, or Iron Cap.
Let’s talk about Iron Man’s appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars. Of course, we can see these two characters in both movies. Or we can see different variations of Captain America and Iron Man in both movies. Secret Wars is about Dr., who created his own “merged” universe by destroying the multiverses in the comics. It takes place in the universe called Battleworlds, where Doom declares himself to be a god. In this universe, each part of the multiverse is described as a separate state, and the Thor Corps, consisting of Thors in the multiverse, provides the law. It was claimed that the Secret Wars comic, which is about the fight against Doom, the creator of this “fake” universe, after some characters who survived the destruction of the multiverses at the last moment came to Battleworlds, will be largely transferred to the movie. If this event happens, we can see more than one Iron Man, more than one Captain America, more than one Thor in the movie.
Although these are claims and inferences based on comic books, it is thought that Marvel will allow us to say goodbye to these legendary characters properly, just like in the Spider-Man movie. We hope they come true and we can see our favorite characters fighting side by side one last time.
