Iran had recently taken a step beyond the strict process by completing an import order with cryptocurrency payment. After all this, Iran Import Association, which wanted to expand its fields of activity, requested a crypto money regulation.

Iran Import Association Requests Cryptocurrency Regulation for Foreign Trade

Iran’s importers emphasize the need for stable regulations to maintain trade through cryptocurrencies.

Alireza Managhebi, head of Iran’s Importers Group and Foreign Company Representatives (Import Association), asked the government the following question, stating that stable regulations and infrastructure should be prepared in order to successfully use cryptocurrencies for foreign trade:

“The question is, has the government developed consistent regulations for cryptocurrency uses that will not change within two months and not harm businessmen operating in this space?”

Managhebi also recalled a possible threat, doubting the belief that the official use of cryptocurrencies for imports could end the dollar’s dominance in the Iranian market. He said the new payment method may lead to the emergence of rent-seeking business groups.
