A TikTok user showed more than 1 million viewers how to use the iPhone secret button feature, which has been around since 2020. After the viral TikTok video, iPhone users realized that their device has more buttons than they thought.

A video shared on TikTok by @ellyawesometech says that if you’re not using the “hidden button” on the back of the iPhone, you’re using the phone incorrectly. Reaching 1 million views in just one day, the video showcases an accessibility feature that iPhone users say has “changed their lives forever”.

How to use iPhone hidden button?

Although the TikTok video says that the hidden button is a new feature, it has actually been available since 2020. The Back Tap feature, available on all iPhones running iOS 14 and higher, allows users to access more features by tapping the area with the Apple logo.

Back Tap can be set to open the camera, take a screenshot, turn on the flashlight and even turn the speaker volume on or off. The viral TikTok video, for example, uses the Tap Back feature to search Shazam for the currently playing song. However, to do this, the phone must have the Shazam and Shortcuts app.

  1. Make sure to update iPhone to at least iOS 14.
  2. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Tap, then hit the “Back Tap” button at the bottom.
  3. Choose whether you want to enable two taps, three taps, or both.
  4. Choose from the options to determine what the hidden button can do for you.
  5. After making your selections, just two or three taps on the back of your phone to activate the feature. Hidden button will work even with phone case.

While this isn’t a new feature, many say it’s the first time they’ve heard of this time-saving technique. You can share your opinions about the hidden button on iPhone with us in the comments section and on the SDN Forum.
