Apple officially unveiled iOS 16 last night and announced it’s coming “in the fall”. That will likely happen in September, with the launch of the iPhone 14. But which iPhone models will receive the iOS 16 update; Which ones will be left out?
Simply put, iOS 16 is coming to iPhone 8 and later iPhone models. The full list is as follows:
- iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus
-
iPhone X
-
iPhone XR
-
iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max
-
iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max
-
iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 1 Pro Max
-
iPhone SE (2020) and iPhone SE (2022)
In short, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and second generation iPhone SE models that received iOS 15 will unfortunately not receive the iOS 16 update. Of course, this does not mean that these iPhones can no longer be used. They just won’t get updates anymore. But it is a fact that they are slowly approaching the end of the road…
