There was a remarkable development regarding the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. Two sources of leaks contradicted the iOS 17, which will be introduced in June. Moreover, both sources are among the trusted names due to their leaks in the past. Let’s take a closer look at these claims.
According to the first claim, iOS 17 will not support iPhone 8 and iPhone X. In parallel, iPadOS 17 will not be released to the fifth-generation iPad and first-generation iPad Pro. According to the source, this is due to a security vulnerability in the A11 processor. Allegedly, Apple took such a decision because it did not want devices with this processor to be updated to iOS 17 and then jailbroken.
However, the opposite is also spoken.
With the outbreak of the update issue, a second claim came from another source, completely rejecting the first claim. According to the claim of this source, Apple will also offer the iOS 17 update to all smartphones that receive the iOS 16 update. Moreover, the claimant bases this information directly on an unnamed person working in Apple’s iOS development unit.
The fact that one of the sources leaked information about the Dynamic Island feature and the other about the iPhone 15 Pro design reveals a situation as if both sides could be right. But when June comes and iOS 17 is announced, we will see who is right.
So which probability is higher?
Apple usually sends operating system updates for iPhones for 5 to 6 years. Security updates are available for a few more years than that. Considering that both models introduced in 2017 have completed 5 years, we can expect these smartphones not to receive iOS 17. However, there are different claims about iOS 17. One side says that this operating system will be focused on iOS 16, with more improvements and fixes. The other side claims that Apple has abandoned this decision and is working on a major update.
