Apple brought the lock mode feature to iPhone, iPad and Macs with the new update to protect its users against cyber attacks. Samsung has also started working to bring a similar feature.
Collaboration with Microsoft and Google
Samsung has also started working to increase the security of Galaxy devices against cyber attacks and will do this together with Microsoft and Google.
Galaxy devices, as you know, are protected by layers such as Samsung Knox and Secure Folder. Knox is a hardware vault containing sensitive user information such as PINs and passwords. It also offers secure WiFi and DNS and uses a trusted domain by default. Samsung Electronics Vice President and Head of Security Dr. Seungwon Shin says that with this feature, they prevent possible phishing attacks.
Shin also referred to the large number of detected cyber attacks and the increasing number of banking trojans since Covid-19: “We cannot collect data without users’ consent, but we cannot prevent any phishing attacks as long as they use the basic features available on our phones, for example, secure DNS domains from trusted providers. We can prevent it.” says.
However, more sophisticated spyware can enter devices without requiring the user to take any action. Apple recently announced lock mode to prevent such attacks, and now Samsung is working closely with Google and Microsoft to develop countermeasures to thwart such cyberattacks.
It’s not entirely clear if Samsung is working on a feature similar to Apple’s lock mode. But the company wants to bring the latest FIDO technologies to its devices as quickly as possible.
