On April 1, 2026, this rule will apply to portable devices such as laptops and iPads.
In addition, some devices that do not have practical use will be excluded from the new regulation. According to the Khaleej Times, Saudi Arabia states that “improving the user experience and reducing costs” is behind this new decision. Also, the country’s local regulator argues that USB-C allows for higher data transfer rates, while at the same time, single-cable compatibility will help reduce e-waste.
