According to the Financial Times report, Apple informed its battery suppliers, including Chinese Desay and Taiwanese Simplo Technology, about its preference for iPhone 16 batteries to be produced in India. The company will encourage manufacturers to set up new factories in India or increase production at existing facilities.If there are no problems in iPhone 16 battery supply, Apple will produce iPhone batteries in India. The company is currently working with Foxconn, Pegatron and Tata to produce iPhones in India. Foxconn carries out 75 – 80% of the device assembly. It is also known that Foxconn invested more than 500 million dollars in India to increase production.
According to the statement of the famous analyst Kuo, 12 – 14% of global iPhone shipments currently consist of models produced in India. In 2024, this rate will increase to 25%. By 2025, Apple will start developing new iPhones outside China for the first time. India is one of the important markets for Apple due to the increasing demand for Apple products in the country.
