Following complaints that the iPhone 14’s battery was draining too quickly, Apple added a few new settings for the iPhone 15. As reported via MacRumors, the company is offering more data on battery life with the iPhone 15 than before, according to X user Tech_Reve.

Allegedly, by following Settings – General – About, you will be able to check the production date, first use time and number of charging cycles of your new iPhone 15’s battery. Since we cannot find this feature on old iPhones, we think it is exclusive to new iPhones.

By activating this feature, users will be able to gain in-depth information on how many charging cycles they have currently used and when a broken battery needs to be replaced. Before this change, users had to go into “hacker mode” and look at the iPhone’s analytics in their own way and search for “last_value_CycleCount”.

With these details now available, it is also easier to understand why the Maximum Battery Capacity is dropping faster than 100%. In addition, Apple is improving the ability of iPhone 15 users to protect their batteries by adding a new Charging Optimization option to the battery health and charging menu.

As BGR’s Chris Smith reports, “Of course you’re going to take a hit in battery life when you limit (yourself) to charging to 80% all the time. However, this will be minimal if you usually recharge the phone when it drops to between 30% and 20%. However, preventing the battery from going to 100% may prolong the health of the battery.”

Apple also expects iPhone 15 users to use their devices more consciously, as they will be able to better understand how battery capacity affects their iPhones. There is currently no sign that Apple plans to roll out these changes to older iPhone models, but there is no official statement yet.
