Before the Apple Wonderlust event, there were rumors that the iPhone 15 USB-C port would be restricted in some way and that full data transfer speed and charging power could only be enjoyed when Apple-certified cables and accessories were connected. However, it turned out that there is no such restriction on the new iPhones that are available for pre-order in America today.

There will be no restrictions on iPhones with Lightning ports

Apple was restricting the functionality of non-MFi-certified cables and accessories on iPhones with Lightning ports. It was rumored that Apple might impose similar limitations on the USB-C port on the iPhone 15 models, but this is not the case. A new report stated that all existing USB cables, chargers and accessories will work normally with iPhone 15 models, as they do not contain an authentication chip, as do iPads and Macs with USB-C ports.

Only iPhone 15 Pro supports USB 3 speeds

iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, all four iPhone models have a USB-C port, but there is a difference in data transfer speeds. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are limited to USB 2.0 data transfer speeds (up to 480 Mbps), which is on par with Lightning. iPhone 15 Pros support USB 3 data transfer speeds (up to 10 Gbps). However, the cable that comes in the box of the iPhone 15 Pro models does not support USB 3; you need to buy it separately.
