Over the past few months, quite a few claims have been made about the storage and RAM of the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro. Some sources mentioned that the amount of RAM will not change, while others mentioned more memory. After contradictory claims, the amount of storage and memory of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max has become clear.

RAM increases in iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max

It is stated that iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will come with four storage configurations: 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB. Apple sources NAND chips from different suppliers for storage. These include SK Hynix, Western Digital, Kioxia and Samsung. Previous claims included 2 TB of storage space. However, this claim could not be confirmed by other sources. Additionally, it was claimed that the iPhone 15 Pro would start with 256GB of storage, but this also seems wrong. Therefore, the storage configuration of the iPhone 14 Pro will remain the same.

As for RAM, the iPhone 15 Pro will continue to use LPDDR5 DRAM, the same type of RAM found in last year’s flagship devices. It is said that Apple tested two configurations, 6 GB and 8 GB RAM, in iPhone 15 Pro tests. These RAMs are also provided by Samsung, Micron and SK Hynix.

It’s currently unclear which of these two RAM configurations Apple chose for its eventual mass production units. However, multiple sources state that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will come with 8 GB RAM. Besides RAM, the iPhone 15 Pro will use TSMC’s new A17 Bionic chip, manufactured using the new 3nm manufacturing process. The A17 is expected to have an additional GPU core that provides better graphics performance. In addition, the performance cores will be increased from 3.46 GHz to 3.70 GHz on the A16. Other improvements expected for the iPhone 15 Pro include an all-new titanium frame, USB-C, and a periscope zoom lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
